The Mesa Arts Center includes three performing arts theaters, an art school and a public gallery. The central idea of the site design was to provide a grand promenade along the length of the complex. This “shadow walk” follows a gentle arc and provides opportunities for large and small group gatherings through the use of different ground textures. The walk is enriched by curving lines of trees and sculptural canopies. Water also figures prominently. A sculpture garden features arrangements of distinctive desert plants.
